SUNDAY JUNE 23rd 6PM: BBQ
Mar Lodge Estate
We don't know what you're doing, but we're sleeping in. And when we crawl out of bed we might just go for a walk in the beautiful national park that we're in. We'd love to have you all join for a BBQ in the evening, on our last night together.
MONDAY JUNE 24th - THURSDAY JUNE 27th
Glencoe
After the wedding, we will go hiking for a couple of days. Everyone who wants to join us is more than welcome to do so. We will be staying at the Youth Hostel in Glencoe that has private rooms and shared dorms. If you're looking for a bit more luxury, there are a couple of Inns and B&Bs in close vicinity.
Mar Lodge is situated in the heart of Cairngorms National Park.
If you're travelling in from outside of Scotland, there are multiple airports you can fly into: Aberdeen (via Amsterdam), Edinburgh (direct) or Glasgow (direct).
If you are not planning to rent a car, we would recommend flying to Aberdeen Airport. Public transport is available to take you to Braemar.
Travelling from Aberdeen Airport, you will need about 90 minutes to drive to Braemar via car. The route will take ou through the Cairngorms National Park. If you are driving up from Edinburgh or Glasgow, the trip is slightly longer (2 hours / 2,5 hours).
Take the road out of Braemar towards the Linn of Dee. About 4 miles out of the village you will come down a hill, at the bottom turn right over the white Victoria Bridge. After the bridge take the left hand fork in the road, up the main drive way in front of Mar Lodge. Then you continue around the left of the Lodge to the carpark situated at the rear of the property.
You can also travel by public transport from Aberdeen if you take the bus from Aberdeen bus station. The bus needs 2 hours and leaves regularly. When you get to Braemar, we will pick you up.
From Edinburgh, public transport will only bring you as far as Pitlochry, so please contact us if this is your planned route.
You're staying on the Estate. We have enough room for everyone in the Main House and cottages surrounding the Main House to provide everyone with a roof over their head so you don't need to drive anywhere at the end of the night.
